quick steel cut oats
I found mine at Aldi (if using non-quick oats, see traditional steel cut oats instructions)

non-dairy milk
I used oat milk (3 cups needed for non-quick oats)

cocoa powder

tbsp
powdered peanut butter
I used PB2 (real nut butter would work as well)

chia seeds

dairy-free dark chocolate chips
Topping Ideas
drizzle of maple syrup
chopped walnuts
additional chocolate chips
splash of dairy-free creamer
Instructions
Quick Steel Cut Oats
Bring dairy-free milk to a boil in a medium saucepan.
Add in oats and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 2 minutes.
Add in the rest of the ingredients. Stir to incorporate and simmer for 5 minutes until oats begin to thicken or they are your desired consistency.
Top with additional chocolate chips, walnuts, and maple syrup for sweeter oatmeal!
Traditional Steel Cut Oats
Bring
3 cups
of dairy-free milk to a boil in a medium saucepan.
Add in oats and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 20 to 25 minutes.
Add in the rest of the ingredients. Stir to incorporate and simmer for 5 minutes until oats begin to thicken or they are your desired consistency.
Top with additional chocolate chips, walnuts, and maple syrup for sweeter oatmeal!
Notes
This recipe would also work with rolled oats, but check your brand for cooking times and liquid quantities.
